Domestic and intimate partner violence is a growing concern in rural Newfoundland and Labrador. Limited access to support services has left many vulnerable families trapped in abusive relationships with no safe way out. This pressing issue emphasizes the urgent need for resources that empower survivors to reclaim their lives.
At Saltwater Community Association, we are dedicated to being part of the solution. Our mission is to provide transitional housing for families fleeing domestic violence. These safe spaces are more than temporary shelters; they offer a foundation for a new beginning thus providing stability, security, and access to vital resources.
For families escaping abuse, the journey to safety comes with challenges. Many survivors face barriers such as financial dependence, lack of transportation, and fear of retaliation.
Transitional housing fills the gap between crisis and independence. It offers a secure environment where survivors can heal, regain confidence, and access essential support systems.
We believe that every family deserves a chance to live without fear. By creating transitional housing, we are not only addressing an immediate need but also laying the groundwork for long-term change in our communities.
Saltwater Community Association cannot do this alone. We need the support of individuals, businesses, and organizations to bring this vision to life. Together, we can provide a safe haven for families in need and help break the cycle of violence in rural Newfoundland and Labrador.t
